Bluestone Celebrates Women In Finance Awards Finalists
Bluestone has three finalists in the upcoming Women in Finance Awards, an exciting program that identifies the leading women across financial services.
Bluestone is proud to have three finalists in the Women in Finance Awards, more than any other bank or non-bank. The finalists span three categories, with Marj Bhatty for Legal Counsel of the Year, Lauren Severino for Business Development Manager of the Year and Denya Dean for Young Leader of the Year. The Women in Finance Awards is an exciting program that identifies the leading women across financial services, representing inspirational high achievers from today’s thought leaders to the stars of tomorrow.
The three women from Bluestone have each excelled in their fields and made their own significant individual contribution to the business. Marj Bhatty has held the position of Head of Legal, Risk & Compliance in the business for two years and is highly respected and acknowledged in the Senior Leadership Team. This year, Marj was involved in the multi-million dollar acquisition of Bluestone by the private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management. She successfully dealt with the legal representatives of over five different bidders and was heavily involved in the transaction from a due diligence perspective. Even with countless hours poring over historical and current data, Marj was thrilled to be right in the thick of this exciting time in the business, and was promoted to the role of Company Secretary as a result.
With over 22 years experience in the industry, Lauren hit the ground sprinting at Bluestone. She reached 97% of target within her first quarter of working with the business, a feat which is generally unheard of at such an early stage. Since then, she has been smashing goals and being proactive within the business, bringing more structure to the BDM team, providing and developing business plans, development plans and encouraging performance catch-ups. She has also spent some time acting as the State Manager for NSW in the absence of the incumbent, who was away on leave.
James Brett, Connective Sales Manager for NSW, praises Lauren for being “always available and contactable, and willing to work the location and hours needed to communicate, visit and train our Connective members.”
Denya has been making waves within Bluestone and the wider industry, with her recent win at the MFAA Excellence Awards (NSW BDM of the Year) and her overall positive and infectious attitude toward her role. She’s incredibly proud of the difficult scenarios she’s been able to solve and of her strong compliance culture. She is highly aware of providing constant and prompt communication to her brokers, as it’s her vision that if one of her brokers has a deal on their desk, that they think of her first. Denya has significantly invested in her social media presence and engagement, including being a prolific video producer, for awards, product updates, testimonials and interviews with brokers.
Bluestone is committed to providing equal opportunity for all employees and encourages the development of employee-driven initiatives and ideas. As the business grows, measures are continuously being put in place to promote a greater diversity mix and inclusion in all areas.
